"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers." (Surah Al-Imran, 3:103)

This ayah teaches us that Allah commands Muslims to be united and avoid division. He reminds us how He made us brothers when we were once enemies.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "The believers, in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy, are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever." (Sahih al-Bukhari 6011)

This hadith shows how Muslims should be united and care for each other as one body.

However, despite this clear command, Muslims have unfortunately become divided into sects over time due to differences in understanding, culture, politics, and human errors. These divisions are against what Islam teaches, but they happened because people made mistakes and disagreements grew.

Many scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah and Imam al-Nawawi emphasized that unity is the goal and divisions weaken the community. We should always try to focus on what unites us: belief in Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

In practical life, this means we try to respect others, avoid disputes over minor matters, and remember that our main identity is being Muslims who worship Allah alone.
